ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Jonathan Monks has an MA in music and has lectured on the effect of yogic exercise on performers. A one-time personal trainer and a gym and triathlon enthusiast, he has studied Astanga Vinyasa yoga for 12 years and pursued the idea of delivering the physical element of the discipline without the dogma. Now he has achieved his aim of uniting the different strands of his life into one beneficial physical practice.
Jonathan teaches his unique form of exercise, 'Yogamonks', at Danceworks in central London and to members of the Royal Shakespeare Company. He has also trained many teachers in his unique fusion of yoga and Pilates. Jonathan believes that understanding can only be obtained through self-discovery and daily practice.
