Then Kakuro is the puzzle for you.
It's like a crossword with numbers, with clues to help you on the way. Called cross sums in the US and Kakuro in Japan, where it is just as popular as Sudoku, this is an ideal puzzle for any train journey, lunch hour or at home with your feet up.
A Kakuro consists of a grid of filled and blank cells similar to a crossword puzzle. Some black cells contain a diagonal slash from top to bottom with numbers in them, called 'the clues'. A number in the top right corner relates to an 'across' clue and one in the bottom left a 'down' clue.
The idea is to fill in the grid so that each set of blank squares adds up to the clue number. Only the numbers 1 to 9 can be used and the same number cannot be used more than once in each set. For the beginner there is a simple walk-through of an easy puzzle plus some helpful hints and tips. But we have 120 original puzzles that range from easy to brain melting.
