But i agree with one of the comments its best to keep clean like all espresso machines. Coffee grinder is good, and adjustable for differnt strenghts etc. I had a delongi before and this is just as good. Dont get as much steam as i would like, but find if leave on for a while to get it really hot it tends to be fine. umbelivable for the price :)”

You need to keep this machine very clean I suggest washing the steam wand in a glass of water each time you use it. On the down side the grinder is not very good and I recommend spending big on a decent grinder if you really appreciate good coffee. Overall a good value for money beginner machine - if you want a professional machine this is not for you”

After a few weeks, I'm starting to notice rust build up in the coffee head as it doesn't seem to be true stainless steel. All in all, I'm still happy; I do notice that the grinder doesn't grind the beas as fine as "superbar" coffee (ground specifically for machines not plungers etc) from the supermarkets.”

However I very disappointed as I purchased 2 which both barely made it past the "Superb 30 Days Warranty". the last being late 2008. I feel the reliability is simply not there. this one lasted around 7 weeks, it obviously sounds great at 7, but that's just over 1 month!. I do not recommend it at all. If you want this type of coffee, save your money and buy a brand name unit.These are just simply worthless OR I'm just very unlucky.”

I don't find it tastes like plastic at all, and my coffee grinds really fine. It's a great looking machine. The frothing works better with a small amount of milk. My coffee is also hot, but you have to let the machine run the hot water through once, before you put the coffee under.”

THEN FAILURE!!!!! this is the 2nd one i have purchased (the first lasted for 1year albeit not working too well after 3mths) It now fails to produce sufficient steam to froth milk. I noticed that from first use it was initially seeming to have too much pressure from the milk frother - certainly alot more than the 1st machine) and then it just gave out on me. I wanted to get a replacement but BEWARE 30 days warranty so you WILL BE STUCK WITH THIS. SO DO THE CALCULATIONS $80 +10 POST = $90 FOR 1MTH USE. PLUS COST OF BEANS. AT THIS PRICE IT COMES TO AROUND $25 PER WEEEK, I THINK I WOULD CHOOSE TO SIT IN A NICE CAFE AND PEOPLE WATCH THAN BUY THIS VERY POOR QUALITY MACHINE. Alternatively spend some real $$ and get a decent machine BUT PLEASE PEOPLE DO SOME RESEARCH 1st!!!! hope my honest account helps saves some of you the trouble and wasted money.”

Mum of 4 from Cooloola Cove, QLD says, “Works great, steamer will clog easily so clean it thouroughly and turn it on briefly after cleaning until the steam comes out so you know its not clogged for its next use. Heats the milk to almost boiling and makes more than enough froth, trick is to froth your milk in a stainless steel jug like the coffee shops. Keep all this in mind and keep it clean and it should work for years.”

The build quality is what you'd expect for the price - the body of the machine is plastic. Also, it's really quite large, so if you're low on space you might want to consider another machine. The coffee it makes tastes reasonable. As with many cheaper machines, steam pressure is not always adequate unfortunately. Personally, the cofee was fine, but the steam wasn't strong enough to properly heat milk.”

Daniel from SA says, “This is a pretty good machine for the cash, most notably because it has a good cone burr grinder. The heater died after about 12 months, so I no longer use it to make coffee, although it did a pretty good job when it worked (for a while it was intermittent, so a couple of times I got cold coffee). I replaced it with a super expensive sunbeam ($700) which makes slightly better coffee, but I still keep this one for the grinder, since the sunbeam doesn't have one. A comparable grinder alone would cost well over $99, so it's a good deal.”

I have several cups a week, use tank water (so no weird taste), use a small stainless steel mug to froth the milk, double grind the beans so they're very fine, and preheat the cups to keep the coffee at its hottest. For $99, it would have to be the bargain of the year!”

I took great care my unit. I bought them Jan 2008. My son only made coffee and really did not look after it. So following the care instructions is of no help! Both died within 2 days of each other. Same problem stoped pumping water. I contacted DD, only to be advised that it "only" had a 30 day warranty. Quite blunt sound like it was no surprise to them. I have bought a few things from this site and many things over the internet. This is without a doubt one of the poorest quality items I have ever purchased - even DD will only give it 30 days. It looks good, but is only junk.”

The colder the milk the better the froth, even have the milk part icy at the start, the colder the better thicker froth. Do not overboil the milk or it will not froth properly. Do not try and refroth boiled milk. Clean the canister out & start again. Stainless steel canister are best to use and always keep them clean and stored in the fridge. To keep your machine in top order, soak the nozzle in good old soda water and clean the jets with a toothpick after each use, this alleviates pressure loss.”

The grinder works but probably not as fine as some might like - but you do seem to get a better result out of having your beans ground fresh rather than buying pre-ground beans. As far as making coffee goes, it works well so long as you follow the instructions properly (including cleaning the unit etc before/after using it). I recommend taking off the 'foam enhancer' cover off the foamer especially if you are trying to make a flat white in order to get a more steamed and less bubbly milk. Coffee snobs will probably look down on the 'crema enhancer' plastic ring inside the filter basket which enable you to use a coarser grind while still producing something that looks like a crema. For the price though it's a great complete coffee solution.”

You have to clean it quickly after using. At once I was using it and it wasn't frothing but because I hadn't cleaned it thoroughly the last time I used it, and milk clogs up the frother... You can simply insert a pin inside the forther to clear out any milk left.”

The documentation seems to have improved a little (from memory) but still isn't the best. I strongly suggest you watch the CD which clearly shows you how to operate. Making coffee is simple and quick. The new machine is quieter. These machines are great value for money, they make as good a coffee as you get from the average coffee shop (if not better). Couple of tips, don't use the finest grinder setting as this 'may' clog the works up - I use 3 notches up from finest. Keep the milk steamer clean - I mean really clean - it is quick to do (just a wipe with a clothimmediately you finish making your coffee). In general keep clean the machine once a month, it does improve the coffee - true! Enjoy”
