Tyrrell’s Old Winery Shiraz 2010

Tyrrell’s Old Winery range is named after its historic winery in the Hunter Valley, built in 1863 for the first vintage in 1864. A classic range of wines produced using fruit from premium Australian wine regions, Old Winery delivers distinctive varietal character and outstanding quality synonymous with the Tyrrell’s name. Designed for immediate enjoyment, the Old Winery promise is to provide a quality wine to suit every palate preference at a refreshingly affordable price.

Winemaker's Notes - The 2010 vintage is a blend of shiraz from Heathcote (83%) and McLaren Vale (17%). Fermentation took place in a combination of open top vats and stainless steel potter tanks. Maturation between 12 and 15 months took place using predominantly French and American oak. Alc 13.5%

Tasting Notes - The Old Winery Shiraz is deep red in colour with a bright purple rim. A smooth, soft and spicy red wine with aromas of dark ripe fruit and subtle vanillin oak. The palate is full of rich shiraz flavours and is supported by firm tannins which provide good length and complexity.

Serving Suggestions - An ideal accompaniment to traditional red meat dishes, tomato based pastas and matured cheeses.
