Tyrrell's Lost Block Sauvignon Blanc 2009

The Lost Block range was named following the 1993 vintage when it was mistakenly allowed to ripen for a longer period than usual. You could say we literally lost the plot! Over the years, a number of wines have joined the Lost Block label, all deliberately crafted in the same soft and approachable style that has made Lost Block Semillon such a success. Lost Block wines are deliberately made to be fruit-laden, fresh, vibrant and easy to drink.

Winemaker's Notes - The grapes were crushed in Western Australia before the chilled juice was transported to Tyrrell’s Vineyards in the Hunter Valley. The juice was fermented in stainless steel before a portion of the blend (40%) was transferred in French oak barriques to mature. The remaining 60% was left in stainless steel before the two wines were blended prior to bottling. Alc 13%.

Tasting Notes - Lost Block Sauvignon Blanc exhibits a wonderfully fragrant nose of guava and passionfruit, commonly associated with the grape variety. On the palate the wine is medium bodied with an extra degree of complexity from the oak maturation whilst maintaining the crisp, citrus flavours which gives the wine freshness and length.

Serving Suggestions - Sauvignon Blanc is best served with seafood, chicken and pork. Its typically crisp acidic edge and medium weight also lends itself to spicy Asian dishes and salads.
