Winemakers Comments

Colour - Pale straw with a green rim.

Nose - This wine erupts on the nose with aromas of nettle, mulberry leaf and blackcurrant followed by the more traditional tropical characters of passionfruit and green melon.

Palate - The immense concentration of fruits carries through to the palate with vibrancy and impact. The mouthfeel is soft and juicy but with a focused backbone of tangy acidity. The flavours carry the wine beyond the first sip and long after the flavours of lime pith and nettle linger seductively...

Vintage Conditions - The 2011 vintage was challenging on many levels due to the widespread above average rainfall across the country. The cool summer however provided the right conditions for gentle ripening with many regions picking approximately 3 weeks later than average. The resultant wines from the vintage are elegant and fantastic regional expression.

Maturation - This wine was matured in stainless steel to maintain varietal purity.

Peak Drinking - This wine can be consumed now to enjoy its youthful fruit characters, but will develop with further cellaring through to 2014.
