Where does Fifth Leg come from? Fifth Leg was born from the Devil's Lair cave - a famous archaeological site not far from the Devil's Lair winery - where fossilised remains of a Tasmanian tiger were found, together with a mysterious extra leg.

Introducing the 2011 Fifth Leg Semillon Sauvignon Blanc, which provides serious wine in a fun package.

The 2011 Fifth Leg Semillon Sauvignon Blanc is a crisp, refreshing wine with lovely texture and balance. It's full of zesty, vivacious fruit with tropical notes of lychee and passionfruit.

Winemakers Comments

Colour - Pale straw with lime green hues.

Nose - An abundance of snow pea and passionfruit hit the nose with hints of fragrant blossom and freshly muddled lime in the background.

Palate - With intense lychee and passionfruit, finishing with crisp apple crunch.

Food Suggestions - Perfect with salt and pepper squid.

Vintage Conditions - It was an early start to the vintage. Winter rains were about average. An unusually dry hot December and January followed; with only a few intermittent showers in late January. This led to a promising start to the vintage and an early end to surfing. Whites were off early, picked in the cool crisp dawns resulting in some wonderful fresh and vibrant wines.

Maturation - The wine was matured in stainless steel for three months to retain fruit freshness, spending time on lees to increase palate weight and texture.

Peak Drinking - Now until 2014.
