Wyndham 1828 Semillon Chardonnay:

This wine is a tribute to Australia’s winemaking pioneers who planted their vineyards in the early 1800’s. Rural colonial life was often harsh but determination and self-belief helped them overcome adversity to create world-class wines.

Winemaking:

Semillon and Chardonnay grapes were harvested at optimal maturity from selected viticultural districts in South Eastern Australia.
Upon crushing the juice was clarified, and then inoculated with a selected yeast culture. The base wines were carefully selected and blended soon after the completion of fermentation to create balance of fruit and retain freshness and continuity of style.

Vintage:

Following one of the driest growing seasons on record with hot conditions throughout January, vines needed careful management to maintain healthy canopies and consistent crop levels. Warm dry weather, late in the season allowed disease free ripening and very early harvest dates. The fruit ripened consistently maintaining natural acidity and distinct varietal flavour. Semillon and Chardonnay grapes were harvested at their optimum flavour and sugar ripeness, retaining freshness and a natural balanced acidity that is essential to this attractive wine style.

Colour:

Pale straw with vibrant greens.

Bouquet:

Fragrant citrus with ripe tropical fruit notes.

Palate:

Zesty, fresh citrus and tropical flavours. A soft and creamy mid-palate is followed by a clean acid finish in this generous, fruity wine.
