Vincentia Public School - NAIDOC Assembly
Vincentia Public School recently had a special NAIDOC (National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee) assembly.
The assembly included a welcome from a local elder, traditional dancing display from the local high school, two Torres Strait Islander dances performed by our Kindergarten students and a slideshow developed by a Year Five class. Kindergarten also put on a display of artwork.

Here are some of the Kindergarten Children wearing their Islander Headdress with their wonderful art display behind.

The children painted the background on the canvas and while that dried they made a stencil of their hand. They then used toothbrushes to splatter paint over the hand stencil. After that they added some paint dots as a border.
Thank you to DealsDirect.com.au who kindly donated the canvases so all of the Kindergarten children would be able to do this wonderful art activity to celebrate NAIDOC Day. The children now have a wonderful piece of art that they can easily display at home. A wonderful keepsake!
